Barcelona took another major step towards the La Liga title with a dominant 4-1 win over Espanyol, opening up a nine-point gap over Real Madrid in the title race.
That nine-point gap over Real Madrid is no coincidence, as it has been built largely on what Barcelona have done on their own turf.
While Madrid have been solid at the Santiago Bernabeu, they have still dropped points. Barcelona, on the other hand, have been flawless.
To put it in perspective, 16 home games. 16wins. No slips, no excuses.
Three different homes
This has not been a typical season for Barcelona.
Due to renovation work at Spotify Camp Nou, Barcelona have had to adapt constantly, playing across multiple venues – from the Estadi Johan Cruyff (2) to Montjuic (3) and back to Camp Nou (11).
Despite the lack of stability earlier in the campaign, the results have remained unchanged.
What stands out even more is how these wins have been achieved. Barcelona have not just edged past opponents, they have overwhelmed them.

Scoring freely while remaining compact at the back, they have turned every home fixture into a controlled performance.
Opponents have struggled to cope, with several failing to even find the net, while others have been comfortably outscored.
Simply put, Barcelona have scored 51 goals across those 16 home matches, while conceding only nine.
Eight teams have failed to score entirely, while 12 opponents have conceded three or more goals, which is clear proof that matches at “home” have rarely been competitive.
Under Hansi Flick, this consistency has become a clear identity.
The team plays with intensity, maintains structure, and rarely allows matches to drift.
Meanwhile, the win over Espanyol also carried historical significance, as it marked Barcelona’s 900th victory at Camp Nou.
Now, with just three home fixtures remaining, against Celta Vigo, Real Madrid and Real Betis, Barcelona have a clear opportunity to complete a perfect home campaign.
